So we rented this lower than low, indier than independent flick called Shower of Blood tonight. The premise was a group of five friends are on their way somewhere (I'm not even sure if the final destination was even specified) and decide to stop at the one girl's uncle Marty's house for the night. Uncle Marty is a vampire, so you can imagine the horror and gore and terror that ensues. When a vampire gyrates his hips and tells his virgin victim that she's "got it going on" you kind of lose respect for the fly by night bloodsuckers of the world.

Or maybe not, because you might be too distracted by the myriad of gigantical synthetic breasts that are being fondled around every corner.

It was like the film makers couldn't decide if they wanted to dive head first into the world of porn, or perhaps buffer it under the pretense of horror.

The sound effects are, um, A plus. Especially when the token ditzy slut pops two huge blue gumballs in her mouth (cue obligatory blue ball joke) and it sounds like she's replaced by a elephant and it's sitting right next to you, chewing in your ear. And later when she gets into the shower and burps and farts. Genius, really.

In any case, this one is worth the rent solely for the insipid amateur acting. And also to count how many times the one dude smashes a beer can on his head.

7:00 pm - Bad Horror!

So I'm not really feeling up to writing full-fledged reviews right now (sorry!) but I want to warn you horror fans about some really bad low budget horror that I had the displeasure of subjecting myself to recently.
A few months back, we rented this flick called 'Scrapbook', a low budget freakout about this insane rapist/murderer who kidnaps females, tortures and rapes them, and makes them write about their ordeal in his morbid scrapbook alongside Polaroids he takes of them in various stages of duress. It was a pretty disturbing and well acted flick for such a low budget studio, and so I chose to peep a few other films in their collection. *BUZZZZZ!* Mistake. 'The Undertow' and 'Insaniac' are boring, trite, miserably acted, and left me with more motivation to put my personal nightmares on celluloid (or video, or whatever the fuck I can get me creepy little hands on) than ever before. Don't get me wrong - I'm all for the independent filmmakers, especially horror filmmakers. But I'm sorry, Sub Rosa Studios pretty much just puts out crap. Like I said, 'Scrapbook' was pretty decent. But these other two (not to mention the bevvy of trailers on those discs, which also look like tedious, hard-to-watch out of severe boredom CRAP). Then again, if you like watching horror for the cheese factor, bad acting, and bad SFX, then go for it. You'll probably love the stuff. For me, I'll just keep looking for stuff that's actually going to make me afraid to sleep, okies?

Thank you, Bye!

12:03 pm - Dawn of the Dead 2004 information

Hiya, Im new here... Im crost posting this to some communities so sorry if ya have to read it a few times but the new Dawn of the Dead movie now has an Official Fan website, trailers and a main website and discussion boards, so wether ya like it or not It's a great place to commend the movie or bitch about it. (I tend to do a little of both) I personally have read the final script and have seen a chumk of the movie already filmed in Canada. It looks awesome but the only continuity is its a zombie movie and its in a mall, don't look for the story line to be similar. My thoughts is im gonna go in pretending its a new kick ass zombie movie not Dawn of the Dead... Well enjoy the links

I made a community about dreams and stuff, so if any body wants to join, maybe you could write about any nightmares, or terrors, or pretty much anything to do with sleep.  I don't mean to "spam" in here, but...it's unhinged_sleep .  Thanks.

Hi, I'm new. Who has seen Session 9? I think THAT is one of the only movies I will not watch alone, for some odd reason. I'm not sure why because there's nothing that SHOULD be scarey about that movie, I suppose it's the atmosphere :X. You should check it out.

9:12 pm - Newbie

Hello, I am new to this community. I just found you all and am looking forward to being turned onto new things.
I only watch horror movies alone with a blanket to pull over my head. It is childish but it works for me.
I just watched Auditon on DVD. The director begins the movie slowly with some black comedy building up to horrible images and a twisted anti-heroine.
Basic synopsis: A middle aged widower wants a new bride. A friend suggests holding a fake movie audition to find prospects. He falls for a beautiful applicant,Asami, that has all of the qualities he desires. He becomes consumed by her and trys to uncover her past. She turns out to be sadomasochistic murderer.
The movie isn't the greatest I have ever seen but the performance of Eihi Shiina as Asami in the final scenes is terrifying and worth the watch.
